Shanghai Branch actively conducts various humanitarian relief and aid missions by setting up the Red Cross humanitarian relief and aid fund targeting at the most vulnerable groups. In 1999, the aid program namely “People help the Vulnerable Families” was launched in an aim to aid those families suffered from Leukemia, malignant tumor, leprosy, AIDS and sever psychosis. 70 million RMB in cash and supplies were distributed to around 12,000 families with financial difficulty. The weekly TV program of “The Actions of Resident Aid to Vulnerable People”was initialed in 2007. The Red Cross humanitarian relief and aid fund at district level has extended their relief and aid coverage to the vulnerable people.
